DESCRIPTION:Informações sobre o XVII Simpósio Internacional de Processamento e Análise de Informação Médica (SIPAIM)\, que ocorrerá em conjunto com o X Simpósio de Instrumentação e Imagem Médica (SIIM).\n \n  \nPRE-CONFERENCE COURSES START ON NOVEMBER 4TH\nCourse #1\nResponsible AI: Fairness\, Transparency\, Bias\, and Explainability \nDate: November 4 – 2 pm(Brazilian time) \nFrom everyday applications to complex algorithms\, technology has the potential to hide\, accelerate and even deepen discrimination\, while appearing neutral and even benevolent when compared to the racist practices of an earlier era. In this talk\, I present some implications of Artificial Intelligence\, exploring some examples where it fails and/or causes a negative impact. We’ll look at some of the open source tools available today to try to see if the data or models we create is discriminatory if it’s biased\, and how we can mitigate it. \nGabriela de Queiroz is a Chief Data Scientist at IBM California leading AI Strategy and Innovations. She drives the AI adoption across existing and potential customers\, leads outreach strategy across our open source ecosystem and data science community. Previously she was a Program Director working on Open Source\, Data & AI Technologies at IBM. \n  \nSaishruthi Swaminathan is an advocate for Trustworthy AI and an Advisory Data Scientist at IBM. She has a Masters in Electrical Engineering specializing in Data Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Instrumentation. Em seus 16 anos de tradição\, o SIPAIM foi realizado na Argentina\, Colômbia\, Equador\, México\, Venezuela e Peru. Em 2021\, será a primeira vez que o SIPAIM será realizado no Brasil. Já o SIIM tem sido realizado quase sempre no Estado de São Paulo\, mas já foi realizado no Rio Grande do Sul e em Minas Gerais. Em sua décima edição\, ocorre a cada 2 anos e é um evento tradicional da área: embora tenha tido inicialmente um caráter regional\, tem recebido submissão de artigos e participação de estudantes e pesquisadores de todo o país\, sendo um evento apoiado desde sua primeira edição pela Sociedade Brasileira de Engenharia Biomédica – SBEB. \nO evento acontecerá em Campinas\, na Unicamp\, entre os dias 17 e 19 de novembro de 2021. A expectativa é que o evento seja presencial\, mas em paralelo nos prepararemos para uma versão virtual ou híbrida. O deadline para submissão de trabalhos é 12 de julho.
